SUMMER PART II MALACCA

MALACCA

I mixed up the timing when my mum told me we were moving off at 6. I thought it meant we were moving out of our house at 6 to go my uncle's house for the van to pick us up. But in actual fact, the van was already at my uncle's house at 6 ready to move off to Malaysia. That's right, its time for Han Ren to embark on the journey to the land of

We took around 1.5 hours to clear customs and it was much simpler as all we had to do was to open the vehicle for the person to check if there was actually 11 people inside. It was much more convenient compared to taking a bus whereby you need to get down the bus, chop your passport, and get back on the bus to continue your journey. I just slept through most of the ride as I was busy slaying heroes the other night with the PSE.
We reached Johor and settled down for some breakfast.
Abalone noodles and some tea
We continued on to Malacca for some lunch. The queue was pretty long so we went to walk around while we left our smallest aunt and her husband to queue in line for us. We explored the place and I discovered it was actually sort of based on Netherlands. Outside of the Christchurch, there was a little windmill with flowers lined along it. Furthermore, there were even more flowers all over the place. After our small exploration, we made our way back to the restaurant just in time for lunch
Hainanese chicken rice and rice balls
The chicken didn't taste as good as we thought as the Hainanese method of chopping chicken meant mashing it into bits and the rice ball was a little too sticky for my liking. Luckily the chilli was great and it saved the meal. Afterwards, we went down to explore Jonker Street more. We found some murals and I had some fun there.
Just doing some hard labour
I managed to find some coconut ice cream on the way too!

We found a stall selling tau sar pia and it tasted damn good.

After digesting our food with  a short walk, we proceeded to the dessert house for some chendol.
Durian Chendol
We then proceeded to find some good tasting satay but was utterly disappointed as it tasted more like rubber than meat.
Shitty satay
We then hopped onto the van in hopes of visiting A famosa. I went into food coma shortly after i entered the vehicle so I only found out that there was a lapse in schedule and we were headed towards Maur for dinner instead. So we began our 3 hour journey and we reached there around 4. The driver was confused about where the local delicacies were at. Luckily, there was a helpful local that the driver chatted with at the petrol station. He offered to guide us to the Tan Chi Jie in his motor.

We had an awesome dinner with fried oyster, char kway teow, wanton noodles and otah. Lots of Otah.

We began our search for A-mei Otah but was informed by a local that it was closed by 3 or 4. So we had to settle for some random wholesale otah place which looked modern and slick to purchase some frozen otah to bring back to Singapore.
Random KFC spotted
It was a short journey but i thoroughly enjoyed myself today!
Cheers
Han Ren
