SUMMER PART IV FTB RUN 2

Run 2

Soon it was run 2. Sadly, I didn't feel as motivated as I was for run 1. The sense of ownership wasn't there and I did not know the reason to it. Of course, this time my co-faci was the ever popular Pauline which meant that it was gonna be more exciting than usual. Day 0 was very chill as we met up for pre-camp lunch at orchard central. Pauline went late as she was acting as a fake freshie for the group. It was pretty much awkward as I found out that most of them were introverts towards the end of the camp.

I was the only one talking non-stop and we went from lunch to eating desert at O'ma desert stall. The park bing soo was great but it was quite expensive. 50 bucks for 3 bowls of ice was quite steep in my opinion.

We then went back to school for briefing. Basically the brief in run 2 compared to run 1 was complete bullshit since most of us have already heard the same thing before. Halfway through the talk I was already falling asleep and JingYang woke me up in time for dinner. After dinner was the same old shit as we had a rehearsal for what's going to happen in the next morning. We fooled around a little before letting the org comm vet our performance. We didn't have to do much as we already spent quite a few hours the previous sunday practising for the performace. We were really lucky to have 2 great dancers to teach us the moves. We played a simple game of traffic light before all of us went to sleep early. Okay, 3am isn't exactly very early but it was earlier than 4am in run 1.

EH EH ERUDITE

And thus it begins run 2 of FTB. It was a great start to the day as I loved the faces freshies were making when they found out Pauline was not a freshie and instead was their faci. All of them had this face as like Pauline had betrayed them. Guess my place as the best faci was already cemented before the camp even started. We played the usual ice breakers with the kids and we remembered to move the bags back into the sports hall this time.

After that was some station games which was pretty much the same as run 1. Basically my mood during run 2 wasn't as hyper as I was in run 1. There was no sense of attachment and I was just following motions. It was as if I didn't want to be there. I talked to a few people about this and they said it was normal. It was not easy being a faci. You have to be the morale pillar of the group, smile when the rest of the group is tired, crack jokes when the group is not talking and lastly, be interested in an activity even when you aren't. This facade continued for the first day and all I could hope for was that the second day would be better.

IFA.. SIMI SAI 可以吃的吗?

The day started not as well as we thought as we got destroyed game after game. That was when I felt that I was learning something. Sometimes things don't always go your way. Even when you try your best to win, there are always occasions that you will not be able to do so. This happened to Erudite 5 a lot today as we were unable to capitalise on our advantage and lost a number of games lopsidedly. But it was ok, all I ever wanted the freshies to do was to have fun. People may say that you do not have fun when you are losing, but I constantly reminded them that friendship is always first. I believe that when you have fun then automatically you will start to win games. In the afternoon our group turned the tables and drew 1 won 2 and lost 1. Despite it not being the best results I was proud of them.
Serious game face strong
Soon it was faci performance again and this time round I wasn't even nervous. We entered the stage and gave it our all. We had fun dancing and we blew the audience away when fantastic baby kicked in. Afterwards was the usual "clubbing" with stereometa coming in and getting the crowds on their feet. I proceeded to the mph to chat with the facis and bitched about a thousand and one things under the sun.
Erudite run 2 facis!

Farewell

Soon it was day 3 and we started off with amazing race. Basically I wasn't motivated to do the race at all because there was no chance of Erudite even winning best clan. I was damn chill and brought my group to only 3 stations. Pauline had the same mindset as me and I really thank her for it. We were able to work together without muttering much because we had both went through run 1. We knew what was going to happen and nothing out of the ordinary happened. We proceeded to do the usual mass dance and the guys went to sleep after "cleaning" the toilet.

As expected, we didn't win best clan or best group. However, it was a fruitful journey for us. I learnt that even if I did not like something I have to stick it through because it was a commitment I had made and it would be rude for me to exit or say I don't want to do it. It is always easy to quit but we must always think back of how long have we come. I went for a week worth of training and mock camp to mold me into the facilitator I was.

Now, it's about time to go for run 3. Where my main purpose of advertising Project Taiyang to china freshies kick in :)
