So we have been planning this trip for some time
Disclaimer that everything here is just my personal opinion and you can take it with a pinch of salt.
To make it easy for the readers basically we went to 5 different cafes as listed down
- Faculty of Caffeine
- Koone
- Marco Cafe
- Roost
- Bev C
Before all of that there was a surprising jam at the Singapore checkpoint early in the morning. Partially its my fault because we were supposed to meet at 8am but I woke up at 7.55 to a phone call by Yun Ting on where the hell am I. Thankfully she called me and I ran out of the house and reached Bugis at 8.30. I have a logical explaination for my not waking up and it's because my alarm was set for weekdays only and doesn't take into account weekends. OH god..

Faculty of Caffeine
Our first item on the menu was the waffles with some vanilla ice cream. It was superb and the waffles really blended well with the rest of the items which were kit kat, macademia nuts, chocolate fillings and cookies.
We also ordered a brownie with ice cream on top and the brownie was really nice too. To put things into perspective the waffles with ice cream was 18.90 RM while the brownie was 17.90 RM. It was really dirt cheap as it could have easily fetched the same price in SGD back here. My friends bought some coffee at 12RM which I felt was a total scam. So today i learnt that you should never buy coffee at JB.
Koone
I have always walked past this shop whenever I went JB for some cafe hopping because I felt that frozen yoghurt wasn't worth my time. But my friends convinced me to go in to try it out because it is in thesmartlocal top 10 cafes to go in Jalan Dhoby or something. And for god's sake, now we know that these are all sponsored posts because it wasn't that fantastic for it's steep price.
We ordered the matcha combo and some strawberry yogurt combination. It was at a steep price of 14RM and 15RM respectively so I was expecting relatively same standard as the Faculty of Caffeine as mentioned earlier. I was sorely disappointed and some of it tasted really sour despite my friend reassuring me that yogurt is supposed to be sour. Furthermore, they decided to put the corn flakes at the bottom of the froyo. Oh come on, who does that.
The mochi in the Matcha ice cream was the saving point as it complemented the taste but the strawberry one was really a no go and avoid it like the plague. I guess the only plus point of the shop was that it had a good ambiance and you can really chill there for a long time.

Marco Cafe
Afterwards we walked past Chaiwaila container to Marco Cafe. I convinced my friends not to try it because their famous iced thai milk tea was really shitty the last time I tried it a year ago. Maybe they have improved but they decided not to take the risk and go back Singapore and drink some Teh beng from Koufu. The ambience in Marco was really good and the service was quick. Once you pressed the button on the table, within 5 seconds people was already serving you.
I ordered a cup of green tea Latte and I must say it tasted quite good! But it's price is really steep at 12RM and I will strongly recommend people to try just one drink and not order anymore because its really expensive. We also tried some crepe cake but we didn't take a photo of it. The crepe cake was really nice and relatively affordable at 9RM. Its around 3SGD and where on earth can you find such fantastic crepe cake at THREE BUCKS?? Even Lady M in Singapore will cost you a leg and an arm around 7 bucks for their matcha crepe cake!
Roost
This was highly recommended by my friend and I must say this place was really good. The environment was really chill as you seemed to be in some throwback state whereby the surroundings was bookshelves and some toys. There was even a converted oil barrel into chair for people to sit on.

We ordered some fruit smoothies, rice and pesto bowls with a plethora of ingredients included. They even had onsen egg which was really delicious. When mixed together, the combination of flavours had an amplifying effect which really satisfied my palate. The rice bowl is at 18RM while the more expensive pesto bowl is at 22RM. All these bowls included salmon or another kind of meat and a variety of other ingredients which was really healthy.
We ordered the fruit smoothies which was quite expensive at 12RM each. So the lesson learnt after 4 cafes is, don't order and juice/coffee/tea here as it is really expensive.
Bev C
I came here last year with my BMT bros and unfortunately it didn't really have any seats for us so we turned it into a semi-photo shoot for me and Joel.

So all in all it was a really great day at JB despite the scorching sun and my bad hair It was really an enjoyable experience and I can't wait to travel overseas with this bunch again!
